Artist Bio:
Yumiko Glover’s artwork captures a range of inspirations drawn from her cross-cultural experiences, as well as the history and philosophy of Japan alongside contemporary scenes from the U.S. Glover’s work is part of collections at the Honolulu Museum of Art and has been exhibited at various public venues, including the Los Angeles International Airport, the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design, the Torrance Art Museum, and in the United Nations’ anniversary publication in 2021. In 2023, Glover completed a mural project in NYC, held a solo exhibit at the Washington Studio School in Washington D.C., and exhibited at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara. Originally from Hiroshima, Japan, Glover received her BFA from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and her MFA from UC Santa Barbara.

Artist Bio,
Megan Koth is an artist currently based in Ventura, California. She received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. She currently works as the graduate program manager and as a lecturer in the UCSB Department of Art. Her work resides in private collections throughout the United States, and has appeared in Voyage-Phoenix, Lum Artzine, LA Weekly, Hyperallergic, and the Phoenix New Times.
Through a queer, feminist lens, Koth addresses the often fraught relationship that can exist between the topography and interiority of the body. Viral internet imagery, contemporary makeup trends, and the traditions of painting and self-portraiture converge to address themes of body horror, obsessive self-evaluation and maintenance, as well as the liminal space of self-care. Drawing from her own experiences with chronic illness and medical trauma, Koth interrogates how personal grooming in the form of skincare and beauty rituals can be a crucial exterior reaction to interior anxieties towards exerting, and sometimes losing, control over one’s body and health.

Ed Ruscha Artist Talks
About Ed Ruscha:
Ed Ruscha has consistently held up a mirror to American society by transforming some of its defining attributes—from consumer culture and popular entertainment to the ever-changing urban landscape—into the very subject of his art. In 1956, Ruscha left Oklahoma City to study commercial art in Los Angeles, where he drew inspiration from the city’s architectural landscape—parking lots, urban streets, and apartment buildings—and colloquial language.
LACMA Exhibition (We will visit LACMA on Saturday, April 20): As his first comprehensive, cross-media retrospective in over 20 years, ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN traces Ruscha’s methods and familiar subjects throughout his career and underscores the many remarkable contributions he has made well beyond the boundaries of the art world. The exhibition includes his early works produced while traveling through Europe, his installations—such as the Chocolate Room and the Course of Empire presented at the Venice Biennale in 1970 and 2005, respectively—and his ceaseless photographic documentation of the streets of Los Angeles beginning in 1965.
