Kolaya J. Wilson is a sculptor and fiber artist who currently practices and resides in the Central Valley of California. She uses the media of recycled materials, domestic objects, and a variety of fiber mediums, to speak to the experiences of mending within the landscape of emotional and sexual trauma. Wilson is a current MFA Candidate ‘21 at University of California, Santa Barbara. She received her BFA with an emphasis in Sculpture from California State University, Stanislaus in 2018. Wilson is currently a Teaching Assistant for Art 18 - Lower Division Drawing. Her work has shown at Lorin ‘68 and Karen Letendre Art Scholarship, University of California Long Beach, Interdisciplinary Humanities Center, UCSB’s Glassbox Gallery, and Wilson’s next show will take place at the ADA Museum in May 2021. In addition to this, she has also recently received a nomination for Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award of the Year 2021 at UCSB.
