Important Things to Remember

1) Research Paper #1 is due on Thursday, May 5th at the beginning of lecture. In addition to submitting a hard copy to your TA, you must upload it to the plagiarism link HERE. Be sure that you do not upload any of your pictures because it will cause problems for the scan, and you will have to resubmit it without the images.

2) Your weekly reading summaries for week 6 will be due in section week 7 so that you can concentrate on writing your research paper. HOWEVER, please make a point to read these essays because Semiotics is a complex field of study, and you will need to have read it before my lectures during week 6. Your Teaching Assistant will discuss precisely what will be due the following week during your sections.

3) Week 7: The Tuesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 12 lectures are cancelled in lieu of our all day field trip to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art that week. You will be going to sections that week, and it is important that you submit your Liability Waiver ASAP. If you absolutely cannot attend the LACMA trip, then there will be a museum trip for you in Santa Barbara that will be discussed in lecture and section.

4) LACMA trip: I urge you to make every effort to attend the field trip to LACMA, and if you missed The Getty Center field trip will have a second chance to see the Mapplethorpe exhibition.

The Department of Art is providing two UCSB vans for this trip to LACMA– therefore a total of 22 students are eligible to get a ride in both directions. LACMA does not provide free parking, but students in this class will receive free admission.  We will discuss the specifics of this trip in class.
