About Dannah Hidalgo,

Dannah Mari Hidalgo (b. 1994) is a Filipina-American artist based out of Oahu, Hawai‘i where she was born and raised. Hidalgo obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in 2019. Hidalgo has also attended the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute in Florence, Italy in 2015 and 2016. She is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her work often explores daily life experiences and relationships while deconstructing space -coupling figurative and representational work with abstract surface activation through paint. Currently Hidalgo’s work observes socially constructed truths and expectations, and how these social constructs fabricate detrimental pressures. An emerging artist of Hawai’i, Hidalgo has participated in group shows locally with the Association of Hawai’i Artists, at Kailua Gallery, University of Hawai’i at Manoa, the Honolulu Museum of Art School, and has exhibited a solo show at Hawai’i Pacific University
